Cardiologist Visit

Today (Monday 20th Nov 2023) I went to my appointment to see my cardiologist to discuss the results of my ECG Examination. They found a change with my heart which has gone from Moderate to Severe.

When I arrived at the hospital I booked in and sat down in the waiting room after being there for about 5mins a Doctor came over to take my weight and height measurements I was then told to sit back down in the waiting area a nurse then comes over and asked me to take another ECG Examination during this examination another nurse comes over looking for me ready to take my blood tests.

So once I had finished with my ECG I then went to have my bloods taken during this my Cardiologist consultant came over and let me know when I had done with having my blood taken I can go and see her in the office to discuss the changes to my heart. So we went in and sat down my consultant informed us that my heart condition had changed from moderate to Severe meaning that the leaky heart valve is now leaking more so instead of the blood pumping around the body it is now pumping back into the heart chamber.

My mum asked if it would be surgery again and my consultants response was its a possibility and is not being ruled out, she informed me that she was going to carry out a TOE Examination this would mean having a camera down my throat to inspect the heart better than an ECG but she knew that is not something I would not enjoy or seemed keen on having done so she decided to book an appointment for a Cardiac MRI Scan instead as this would produce better images of the heart.

She wants the results from this MRI Scan as this would then determine how severe the heart has now become and if the possibility of surgery what type of surgery would be best moving forward for recovery
