The hardest goodbye to a loyal companion after 16 wonderful years of adventures and memories.
Roxie 7th July 2006 - 9th August 2022
Roxie was a Jack Russell (crossbreed) who I got at the age of just 4 weeks old after the owners of the female dog who had the puppies wanted them gone that day my first choice was a brown puppy that came over and sat in front of me but then I saw this cute faced little black and white puppy so I decided to choose her because she was the smallest in the litter and seemed really relaxed and calm.
I decided on the name Roxie as it seemed to suit her well I then had to go get some special puppy milk as she was far too young to leave her mum and needed the correct nutrients if she had any chance of surviving. I wanted to do everything I could because she was my first ever dog so she was very special to me and I wanted to give her a really great lifestyle.
When I brought Roxie home the first thing I did was take her first photo and it was like she was a natural in front of the camera and because she was so small I used to put a jumper on my desk and let her sleep right next to me while I played games. She was amazing. I got lots of photos of Roxie as a puppy but during 2006 I had computer issues where I got the blue screen of death forcing me to lose everything after having to format the hard drive. It was so upsetting and frustrating.
One day while Roxie was playing with her brother she had an accident where her leg got caught under a chest of drawers which caused her to break her leg. I was so upset I took her to my mums right away so that we could then try to get her into the vets as soon as possible. The vet was amazing, ran X-rays and checked her over. They really surprised me because they loved her so much that they gave her a nice bright yellow cast while her leg healed up and when I took her back to have the cast changed they gave her a nice pink cast.
She eventually healed up but during recovery she had to be confined to a crate because she was an active little puppy as she got a little older and she had all of her vaccinations it was time to start taking her out for walks. At first she pulled on the lead which every puppy does as they are just so excited to be roaming around and be outside so they think it's always playtime she eventually learned and I started teaching her to walk without a lead on.
When Roxie was about 1 year old she loved to follow me around and even climbed up some bunk bed ladders (supervised) she was a very keen climber I was at my mums working in the attic and Roxie even tried to climb the Attic ladder to get to me she just loved being by my side and wanted to be everywhere I was it was awesome and I wouldn’t have it anyother way we had this special bond with each other.
