Mandy and Ian, who manage the Hopwood Arms Pub, organised for a Christmas tree to be placed on a small area opposite the pub to prepare for their inaugural Christmas Light switch-on event for the close-knit community of Slattocks, located between Castleton and Middleton.
The community endured the chilly weather to participate in the inaugural Christmas light switch-on. Hot chocolate, mulled wine, and tasty mince pies were available for purchase. Even one of Santa's elves arrived to ensure good behavior, and it's safe to say Ian was well-behaved this year, earning him the task of cleaning up following a wonderful evening.
St Johns School Choir delivered an outstanding performance. Congratulations to everyone; you put on a fantastic show for all to enjoy, and you should be very proud of yourselves! There were smiles everywhere. The Mayor of Rochdale attended to switch on the first Slattocks Christmas Lights.
Mandy and Ian organised a fantastic evening, ensuring their first Christmas light switch-on was a success enjoyed by the small community of Slattocks. Let's hope they continue this tradition next year, as they executed it like champions. Congratulations on a successful night!
